Yes.

• We drill a hole (32mm diameter) into the ground,
• we fix 'socks' into these holes,
• then we insert the fence poles into the holes.

We have to do this to make the fence strong and secure. All fence or barrier types need to make holes whether removable pool safety fence, glass fence or pool safety net. Otherwise they would not be child-proof.

We supply twist-in caps to close the holes if you remove the fence. We also leave the drilled plugs with you to help re-fill holes if you remove the fence permanently. If you are renting you may need to check with landlord.

Yes. Release the child-resistant safety latch and pull up vertically to remove each pole. NB the safety latch is child-resistant because it is tough, it is high up, and to release it you need both hands and you need to do two actions at the same time. See the video...

• The gate is self-closing - it closes automatically when you let go of it.
• The gate is self-locking - a high strength magnet shoots the bolt to 'closed'. It can only be opened using the latch.
• The latch is fitted 1.50 meters above the ground, out of reach for children, and only opens by pulling upwards
• The gate can also be locked with a key. A red button indicator shows visually that it is locked.
• The MagnaLatch lock and the TruClose hinges are premium products from D&D Technologies in Australia.

The fence:

• A child should not be able to get through any fence gaps
• A child should not be able to climb the fence
• A child should not be able to crawl under the fence
• A child should not be able to reach the top of the fence
• Gate access to the pool should be very hard for a child but also very easy for an adult
• There should be no sharp edges or bits sticking out which could injure a child
• The fence should be strong and long-lasting
• The area around the fence should be clear of anything a child could climb and get into the inner pool area
• A child should not be able to access the inner pool area through any door or window unless these are fully restricted in permitted ways
• Fences and walls must have an effective height of 1.20 meters
• Any objects or structures, such as steps, decks, furniture, pots, toys, bricks, etc., should be at least 1.20 meters away from the fence or wall
• Any gap at the foot of the fence or gate should be 10cm or less, and for removable fences the gap should be 5cm or less, reducing to 2.5cm if the ground is grass, stones, or sand

The gate:

• The gate should open out away from the pool
• It should be self-closing and self-latching from all positions
• it should also be key-lockable
• The gate should only open with the paper use of the latch
• The latching device should be 1.50 meters above ground level
